The ecological cottage “Berkendal” is located in the middle of the countryside of the Westhoek, at the edge of the Helleketelbos, forest between the border village of Abele and the picturesque town Watou, known for its poetry and art. All of these are sub-municipalities of the hop town Poperinge.

Being newly constructed by means of bio-ecological building materials, this cottage is the summit of virtue for body and mind.

Its location is truly unique, with on the one side the hilly landscape, belonging to the West Flemish municipality of Heuvelland and on the other side the flat countryside that stretches itself from the river the Yser to the distant North Sea coast.

This is the mecca for hikers, cyclists and people who savour nature, rest and authenticity.
